Chesapeake, VA – After ten years of service at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Virginia Beach where Bishop William Darryl Scott is the senior pastor, Minister Earl Bynum is leaving the building.

Minister Bynum says, Simply, it’s the beginning of a new season and I’m excited about it because I believe this is a strategic move by God.”

His new season will begin effectively, Monday, December 1, 2008 when he takes on the title of Executive Minister of Music for Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Chesapeake, VA.  In his new role he will oversee three churches that sit under the Lebanon Church name, including the Chesapeake Campus, Elizabeth North Carolina Church and the entire Music Curriculum for the Church Academy.

Minister Bynum started his time at Pleasant Grove as a keyboard musician and directed the 2nd Sunday morning worship service.  He was later asked to take over the Senior Choir before being tapped to become the first ever Minister of Music at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

As the Executive Minister of Music for Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Minister Bynum will be over seeing several choirs, including the Praise & Worship Teams, Unity and the Youth Department with more than 500 participants.

Pastor Kim & Valerie Brown are both excited about Minister Bynum heading up their music department.  Making the move even sweeter, Bynum’s soon to be former pastor, Bishop Scott is also happy for Bynum and prays for God’s continued blessings over his life.

In preparing for his move, Bynum will hold his first meeting at Mt. Lebanon tomorrow, where he will be meeting with all of the Music Ministry personnel.

Bynum says he still will be directing and teaching choirs as well as leading Sunday morning Praise and Worship.

Asked if any of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church members will follow him to his new Sunday morning home, Bynum said, “That is not my intentions.”

As for his solo singing career, Bynum says both pastors have given him their blessings and he foresees no problems or interruptions.
